Long-distance move from West Chester, PA to Tampa, FL

The Worst, absolutely Criminal

The only thing they got right was the address.... the only reason they got that right is cause they deal only in cash! Once they have that you are on your own. Nothing but delays, and stone-walling. When they did arrive thousands of dollars of stuff was broken or stolen. I won't say missing anymore, because when I called to work worth them ( maybe is was still in the warehouse maybe it was dropped off at another home), they blew me off to file a claim. and they never picked up my call again. All the stolen stuff was coin collections, collectables, autographed items.

Its been a year and they still have not cut a check for the reimbursement. I have to take these "People" to court.

I would ask 'how do they sleep at night', but I know it is very comfortably with all the stolen stuff.

Finally a competent company..!

I have been out of the country during the pandemic. And when it was time to come back I was freaking out about how I was going to get all my belongings I left with another friend half a state away. Thankfully Christina helped guide me through the process And they essentially had all my stuff delivered by the time I landed here. They made a very worrisome situation for me into a pleasant experience.. Thank you guys.!!

Long-distance move from Marietta, GA to Lake Mary, FL

I paid them $5,000 to cause me $15,000 in damages

I paid Van Lines of America almost $5,000 to cause me $15,000 in loss and damages. Hiring Van Lines of America was one of the worst mistakes of my life.

They showed gross negligence, unprofessionalism, and a complete lack of care for me, their customer, throughout the entire process:

-Loss of personal, irreplaceable items: ALL OF MY WRITING from the time I was a teenager (poetry, short stories, original songs, diaries, scrapbooks)

-Unprofessionalism from the packing crew, some of which appeared to be under the influence of drugs

-Refusal to even give a delivery date for almost two weeks--they kept giving me the run-around and I had to call every other day

-Improper packing: things literally thrown in boxes and unprotected, dressers not unpacked resulting in irreparable damages)

-Low quote meant to get me to sign that intentionally left off things I mentioned (like the stairs) resulting in additional charges at pickup

-6.5-hour delay in arrival on pickup and packing day, which pushed my move from Georgia to Florida back an entire day

-Bed completely disassembled past factory status, missing parts, and not reassembled at delivery, resulting in total loss

-Misdelivery of items and improper inventory check: I received someone else’s box 18 in addition to my own and sent it back

-Missing items including furniture, home décor, and personal items (books, 350 CDs): almost half of my bookshelf is GONE

-Improper paperwork and documentation: I was not given a copy of the final inventory at delivery in which I mentioned that I was missing items

-Last-minute change of payment type: I had cash for delivery as requested but was later told I had to pay through Zelle instead because they didn’t want to wait for the driver to get back with my money

-Unprofessionalism every step of the way: no one ever called back or did anything they said they would

On their website, they claim they are "your professional & trustworthy moving company", which couldn't be further from the truth.

Awful in EVERY way

Van Lines of America was terrible on every level. From delays in pick up (which took 3 days due to many errors on their side) to adding thousands of $ in charges at delivery and threatening to hold our stuff hostage when we tried to discuss obvious miscalculations, the company failed from start to finish.. The company lied several times, refused to communicate In writing, did not have required paperwork and destroyed furniture through blatant mishandling. Do not hire!

Terrible Company

If I could give them negative stars I would. They are nothing more than expensive con-artists. They tell you they are A rated with the BBB, they are not. They are actually C rated. They are not actually accredited by the BBB either. They tell you anything to get you to sign, at the last minute they jack the price up, add new fees, etc. When you call them out on it they tell you, it was a miscommunication on their part, but will do nothing to make it right. Then once they have your stuff they, they hold it hostage until you do what they want. There is no communication from them at all, you have to call and hound them. They tell you it is their trucks and their employees, its not they showed up in a U-Haul, with one Van Lines employee and they rest day labors. They lie to you over and over, and when you call them out on it they tell you sorry it was a miscommunication on their part. They told me it would cost $9000 to move me from FL to NC, nope almost $14000. They said they price match nope, Two Men and a Truck quoted me $12000. They told me I could pay with credit card, nope demanded cash or the equivalent of. They are so worried about people disputing the charge. If they just did what they said they would, they would not have this problem. They broke items before they even got them loaded. They told me they would take my stuff to storage in NC, so it was ready when I was. Nope over 30 days later it is still FL. Each week it is being loaded and will be delivered to me, and each week no communication from them. I have to call them, only for them to tell sorry it will be the following week. No guarantees, no time frames, not even an apology. I had to call the Police before they would even let me talk to a real manager. I can go on and on. Lord knows what condition my stuff will be in by the time they finally deliver it. I WOULD ADVISE NOT USING THEM. You will be better off moving yourself. If you have or have had an issue I would strongly encourage you to file a report with the following, they will do nothing to resolve any issue that they cause. I will update once they finally deliver.

BBB.org (which will do no good because they are not accredited) www.fmcsa.dot.gov (this is a government agency that monitors transportation companies)

Terrible and Expensive SCAM

Expensive, stressful experience from a terrible moving company with a scam insurance policy. We hired Van Lines of America for a move in September 2021.

Despite getting a detailed quote for us, they arrived unprepared with an undersized truck and insufficient furniture protection to complete their “White glove Treatment” (which we paid an extra $800 for). We received no communications, no updates, and were constantly sent to voicemail when we called. Through multiple truck/warehouse transfers, they lost, damaged, and could not account for multiple pieces of furniture and items (sofa, office chairs, broken china, and missing boxes). After a couple months they randomly delivered the sofa and the piano- damaged; still not accounting for all of the other missing items!

We were charged an extra $850 to a random third party for a destination fee – holding our items hostage at 7pm (a haphazard unloading that extended till 1am). Again, their lack of communication and logistical planning caused confusion because we were not told who the payment should be made out to – causing a last minute Zelle transfer that exceed our bank limit, so we had to do a second emergency Zelle transfer from our son’s account.

We immediately filed our claim and waited the requisite 120 days for their third party settlement company (CSI Insurance(?)) to processes our claim. Only to find out that they will no longer be dealing with it and we have no way of moving forward, as once again, we never get a response from Van Lines of America. We are now pursuing legal action because of the ~$3,000 of damaged and missing items.

Do not trust this unethical company with their scam insurance policy with your furniture.

Unethical and Criminals

Company misrepresented cost to store items for 30 days then agreed to pay 1/2 of overcharge and deliver furniture if I paid and signed a release waiver of any current and FUTURE complaints. Once I did so, they opened the truck and had stolen my leather couch, Master bedroom dresser and 2 rugs. They obviously knew this which is why they wanted a release signed. I have hired an attorney and think there should be a class action suit. Driver told me himself that EVERY delivery he has made in 3 months of working for company has had items missing!! They are criminals.

Great Move!

This is the second time we've moved long distance in the last 5 years. This move was definitely the smoothest. The movers were great, and very nice. The staff always answered my calls when I called, or called me back right away. Everyone was always in sync with the information that was given. When my items arrived they called me ahead of time and even though I wasn't immediately ready, they were very accommodating to me.

DONOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Beware, everything that is posted on here is accurate 110%-They are a fraud- I will be posting a blog website to garner history on this scam, in order to file a class action lawsuit against both the number of LLC's they have and in their personal capacity. These people MUST be stopped- Been reported to multiple states AG offices. NOT following states COVID protocols either. They also have possible lapsed liability insurance, placing ones property in jeopardy of not being covered WHEN they damaged your much loved and hard worked for property! They are a scam and fraudulent. The drivers are NOT DOT certified. They only have two DOT certified trucks also. Scam Scam Scam and more Scam...They are extortionists, they belong in a court room behind a defendants desk. Their time will come. They double the price then hold your property hostage, awful company and slimy-I tape recorded all of my conversations with them.

Beware of their deceptive business practices

I booked with VanLines on the premise that if my belongings were picked up on Thursday, December 17, 2020, they would be delivered before Christmas (Dec 25). It is now Saturday, December 26, 2020, and I have not been advised when my belongings will be delivered by anyone from Van Lines despite numerous attempts to get an update.

The only time that Van Lines has effectively and consistently communicated with me is to discuss what amounts are owed to them and how I should be making payments to the drivers. Otherwise the communications about the delivery of my belongings have been inconsistent and very misleading.

What is most concerning is that on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, I was asked by the driver if I'd be willing to accept delivery on Monday, December 28, 2020. I asked the driver if there would be a discount applied for accepting the delivery so many days later than originally contemplated, and the driver said there would not be any discount applied. Based on the driver's response, I advised him that I rather accept delivery on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. On Wednesday, December 23, 2020 the driver advised me in summary that the "truck was having mechanical problems" and delivery would be delayed. I have not received any further updates regarding the delivery of my belongings since December 23, 2020.

The Van Lines of America staff were able to enjoy their Christmas while I spent my Christmas in an empty apartment, with no idea as to when my belongings will be delivered.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this company to anyone making a long distance move based on my experience. My hope is that I get all of my belongings, and nothing is lost, stolen or damaged.

Praying for delivery

I have been given 2 delivery dates that were not met. I have now been given a 3rd delivery date...fingers crossed. Also, they doubled the price after they were halfway through loading my stuff on the truck. I was in a bind because they were already a day late for pick up and I was supposed to be out the day before. So now they are holding everything I own hostage and they claim that they aren't sure where the truck is.

Prepare to be disappointed

Expectations were set from the start: the quote is just an estimate based on what we told them, and they gave us a date that would be the “earliest possible date it could be delivered” (we understood it was not a deliver-by date).

When they arrived to pick up our stuff on move out day, they pulled a bait and switch, more than DOUBLED our quote because we didn’t give them an accurate list of everything we had. We were in a bind because we had to be out that day, and they were our only option.

We negotiated the quote down a bit, and begrudgingly agreed for them to move our belongings.

6 weeks later they finally made the delivery. 6 weeks of checking in every other day to check the status. They told us our location was out of the way, so they would have to make special accommodations to deliver our stuff.

0/10 would not recommend to a friend.

Terrible service and complete cheating

This is not a moving company, it's a cheating company to make money in without doing any work or what they committed to. They have given the quote for $1500 to move the stuff from MA state to FL and the items listed out on the quote was exactly matching. Upon arrival first of all they did not send Van lines truck and those guys are third party and that is not even communicated to me because they already planned to cheat heavily. The guy came for the pick up asked me to pay rest of the 70% money without even loading and asked me to sign the agreement being nice to me and he said the things will be taken care properly. Since I have to vacate the apartment the same day, I ended up paying money and signing and we have 2 small babies to take care as well in the family. He checked the items as well before loading and the count is exactly matching but he spread out items only one layer without stacking. Soon after loading the stuff, he changed the price by saying, the items occupied the 3 times the amount on what it's quoted and charged me $5K in total and left the place even though am saying not to proceed, also, he said entire truck is moving only for me and it will reach in 3 days. The very next day I called and he said the stuff is already on the move to the destination and not answered the call further. I called to Van lines customer care who sold me the quote, she said she is not responsible because the guy showed up is not their party and the agreement is not with Van lines even though they have given the quote and sold, this is the boiling point, they have given the quote and sold out to third party and made the customer to cheat by those guys and taking the commission. I have asked the representative many times on what went on, she said she is not responsible and caused more trouble by not responding to emails in writing. I did wait for 15 days for the stuff to arrive and upon arrival I did the truck and my stuff not even occupied 500 cubic feet and they made it as originally look like 1000 cubic feet and i have all the photographs as well for the complaint. Since I have small babies and have been waiting for the items for them, agreed to pay almost close amount that they demanded or threatened and they promised to move the stuff inside the home but the guys have took the money and ran away by keeping stuff at parking lot. The very first thing is that I will use all the recordings and photographs & emails & messages proof to make a case against them on why it was being charged extra even though the items are exactly same and why they distributed all over the truck and why those guys ran away by taking money. I request everyone who got cheated form a group and let's make this movement big by filing the case through attorney. We can't keep this robbing going on for years. Am going to social media as well to make it big. Please join with me. They are eating away hard earned money from people all over America.

Poor customer service and overall bad experience

Buyer beware. Our price tripled from our original quote. On moving day they arrived 4 hours late. We waited a week to receive our items so we basically lived in an empty house for a week and were not treated well when we made numerous calls enquiring about a delivery date. When we finally got our stuff, at 3:00 pm , by the time everything was unloaded there was too much to go through upon receipt so we could not unpack and check all of our things , but on receipt of our items we were able to see that our curio cabinet glass was shattered. Our piano was missing a pedal and our TV stand was broken. Our TV boxes were delivered to us upside down and my husband’s stereo equipment was delivered in upside boxes as well even though all of our electronics were packaged in clearly marked boxes. I will never recommend this company to anyone. The one mover barely spoke English and the other spoke no English, allegedly which obviously made it hard to communicate. This company has you at there mercy through this whole process and they know it. Worst moving experience ever.

Moving experience from Montgomery NY to Cape Coral FL

I had booked my move and when the movers came, they had an incomplete list and added items that should have been included. It became a burden both financially and emotionally. Then when the expected delivery date was to happen, the answer was that the items are in the warehouse and since I had more than listed it required a larger truck to move ALL the furniture. Well all the items on the list did not arrive at the final destination. VanLines answer was to file a claim, knowing only pennies on the dollar were going to be paid. Missing and broken items could not be replaced by the settlement so more out of pocket financing had to occur. Our experience with this company is less that the poor rating I was able to give. I am NOT RECCOMENDING anyone to use this moving company. Misleading and inefficiency is how I would describe their operation.

Frustrating

Moving is stressful by itself, everyone will agree. Got great service from the sales representative, very responsive. This all changed once we paid the 20% down and were ready for the move. They told me I could pay with credit card with an additional fee. the day of the move they decided to change their policy, had a very nasty call with the costumer service representative and they finally let me pay with credit card. The movers smelled like cigarettes and our entire apartment was stinky by the time they left. We gave them 2 bottles of ice tea which they threw out on the parking lot.

They told me they have 3 weeks to legally deliver my stuff, but that they usually don't take more than 3-4 business days. It's been 7 business days and our stuff is still in MD. We call to get an update and no one answers. The only department answering the phone is the sales department and they tell you they can't help. Frustrating, never felt so disrespected by a company like this. Please, pay more, but go with another company, there is no price for professionalism and piece of mind.

Thanks Van Lines Of America

I booked my move since February, talked to the sales guy, He assure Me that the dates We managed to setup will be the dates that all would take place because I booked with many months in advance (I was moving in April). During those Months I called several times to make sure We were on track, they always wanted to get off the phone quick. The nightmare started 3 days before “pickup date”, I called to find out what the process would be. Find out they moved my pickup date, driver never called until 1 hour before arriving, by that time I already was in trouble with the current Apartment I was living in because I ended up staying two more days, as soon as they arrived I started talking to the guys (really nice, hard working people) just to find out that the day that I was schedule, the dispatch decided to send them to another client, when they arrived the person in question wasn’t even ready for pickup and they ended up helping the person packing when I had everything ready days before pickup, as soon as they put all my stuff on the truck the big surprised, they over charge me $1,400.00 more, I had no choice, all my furniture was already on the truck, by the time they took my stuff I went in to the reviews and noticed that I was being screwed just like the rest of the people here, they arrived to my new apartment 2 days late in a 18 wheeler, thank God there was space for them to park, out of the nowhere they ended up charging Me $180 more because “I have stairs” when I previously told the sales guy ALL the details on that, without Me paying that extra the driver would not proceed and put my stuff in to the apartment, once again I ended up paying, several furniture was broken, boxes that I labeled as “fragile” all over the box was totally ripped off, they also lost a box and a piece of furniture that was hand made by a friend for our wedding, once again, when I talked to the guys, they ended up being from ANOTHER COMPANY, they didn’t even worked for Van Lines Of America, so the extra that I was paying was because it was another company doing the delivery.

Calling, emailing, texting, screaming will do NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING… once you sign the quote you are screwed, they will do everything in their hands to take as much money as possible from your packet.

I ended up paying more than $4,000.00, with broken furniture, broken boxes and starting this new chapter with my family in red numbers.

Thanks Van Lines Of America

I wasn't quite ready for the quality of service I received from Van Lines of America. What they lacked in punctuality they made up for with efficiency. THE WORST

If I could give a zero I would. This is the most unethical business I've ever dealt with. I would like to recap the problems that we had with this company. When Van Lines of America showed up to move us on Saturday 5/27 in Atlanta, they were without a person who never showed up. It took them over 6 hours to pack a 720 Square apartment. When I called the company to question why they didn't send someone to replace them, they called the movers and complained, who then confronted me, asking if I had a problem with them. I explained that my problem wasn't with them personally, but with the fact that they charged me an extra $350(they later took $100 off) because my loading dock was too far, according to them, from the freight elevator. When I questioned them, the movers had the audacity to ask me why I didn't read the contract. Really? You're the movers. That isn't your role to question. Although they are correct that it is in the contract, one often depends on their sales people, in this case Kyla Robinson to explain those things to you.

The movers were rude and terrible packers, despite the fact that I even went and bought them lunch. They left many things out, and when I asked them, they tried to tell me that those things were never there? Really? Well where were they. They grabbed up those things and didn't even put them in a box. They just put them on the truck. I guess I stupidly believed they would make it. I was missing all of my exercise equipment (dumbbell, bands, ab wheel), as well as things from my kitchen and bathroom. From the very beginning, I could not get a delivery date. I understand that they may not be able to give me an exact day. However, they wouldn't give me a date range. And because I live in a highrise, I must reserve a date with a 3 hour window in order to use the freight elevator and loading dock. They called me on 4/1 to tell me it would be delivered on 4/2. They gave me less than 24 hours notice. I scrambled with my apartment people to reserve a date.

When my stuff was delivered almost EVERYTHING I owned was damaged. The biggest damage was to my bed. Part of the headboard was completely broken off. My bookcase is in two parts, and both of them had deep gashes in them. A friend commented to me that the damage to my desk looked intentional, like somebody carved into it. The leg of my small little sofa table was completely ripped off. My desk was damaged, with the leg of the desk unstable. We noticed that it also had the standing leg of it ripped out. My chair had a deep gash on the leg. Everything I own was at least partially damaged. To make matters worse, this company had no respect for my belongings. They did not put my hanging clothes in a hanging wardrobe box. Instead they took my good suits, dress shirts, and other hanging clothes, waded them up in a ball, and threw them in a box. They took my drawer of sliverware and literally dumped it in a box. It was completely appalling. It took us hours to even get it out of the box, as it was mangled together.

I had to buy new furniture, as it would not even be financially beneficial to try and repair it. When I told the company of this, they were completely callous and uncaring. I have posted this on Facebook, and nobody could believe it. People commented that they had never seen such damage from a moving company. I paid these people $3,600. They took my money willingly, and then completely showed a lack of respect for me and my belongings. I feel violated by this company. They should not be in this business. And I will do everything possible to make sure people know about them. Nobody should have to go through what I did with this company.

Then, to top it all off, after destroying and showing a complete disregard for my belongings, this company gave me $222 in settlement because it is based on weight, and the price per pounds ensure they never really have to pay much out. This is completely outrageous. I had to pay nearly $10,000 to replace all my furniture.

PLEASE BE AWARE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE THE REAL ONES. I’m now having to use a lawyer to deal with these fools. They hire the low of the lows to lie to us as customers. I already reported them to FTC, the more complaints they receive, the quicker they will take action to put this company out of Business. Please report them to FTC, to put them out of Business. They are crooks. DON’T USE THIS COMPANY UMDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
